Behind the Frame: Camera Choreography in Architectural Walkthroughs
Why the path a camera takes through a building matters as much as the building itself.

A walkthrough animation lives or dies on its camera path. Move too fast and viewers lose their spatial sense of the building; move too slow and even a beautifully modeled space starts to feel static. Every camera move we choreograph is trying to solve for both problems at once.
We plan a walkthrough the way a cinematographer blocks a scene, starting with the emotional beats we want the viewer to feel before we ever touch a single frame. An establishing aerial pass to set scale, a slow glide toward the entrance to build anticipation, a held shot in the double-height lobby to let grandeur register.
Timing against sellable features is deliberate. A camera lingers a beat longer at a rooftop pool with a skyline view than it does passing a utility corridor, not because one space took longer to model, but because attention is the most valuable currency in a thirty-second video.
Ease-in and ease-out curves matter more than most people expect. A camera that starts and stops abruptly feels like a drone operator overcorrecting; a camera that accelerates and decelerates smoothly feels like an invisible, confident guide. We treat these curves with the same care as the lighting itself.
The best compliment we get on a walkthrough isn't 'the building looks real.' It's when a client says they forgot they were watching a render at all, they were simply walking through a home. That only happens when the camera gets out of the way of the architecture.
